Iowa Championships Moved

Ropers,

The Iowa Championships scheduled for June 17-19, 2011 in Sidney, IA has been RELOCATED to Bethany, MO due to concerns about the flooding conditions along the Missouri River valley. The event will be held at Hickory Hill Arena the weekend of June 17-19. Producers Jeff Smith and Ike Cox regret having to relocate this event, as it has been a favorite among ropers in the area for more than twenty years. The flooding in the Missouri River Valley is the result of excessive snowmelt and recent rainfalls in the Dakota's.

The Army Corps of Engineers is set to open the floodgates at Gavins Point Dam tomorrow, and then again in 8 to 10 days. The Dam, which impounds Lewis and Clark Lake, sits on the Nebraska-South Dakota border, west of Yankton, South Dakota. Parts of the valley are expected to have 10 to 15 feet of floodwater and for safety reasons the event has been relocated to Bethany.
